“I express myself with images” – Chu Viet Ha.
Chu Viet Ha is among the most well-known street photographers of Vietnam, and the most impressive of his generation that does street photography. Although not born in Hanoi, Ha lives in and loves the city, where most of his works come from. Each of his photographs demonstrates his unique view and catches the viewers’ attention and thoughts.
“…I am a photography lover, especially street photography. Photography is a bridge that connects myself and the outer world. Photography is like a religion, and capturing the right moment decides. I love people and approaching them, I want to bring the viewers closer to the subject…”
Chu Viet Ha keeps astonishing his followers on his social pages with his shots. And his works have been published on different magazines featuring street photography such as IPA (invisiblephotographer.asia with”Vietnam – Feeting Encounters”), 121clicks (A world-class portal dedicated for arts & photography), Streethunters, etc. He was invited to be the judge of “Photo Talk” competition, lauched by Fujifilm Vietnam. Ha was also rated as 1 of the 15 best Street photography Flicker in 2016. In 2016 he exhibited his “Like a Life” collection, funded by AIA. In 2018 his works were shown at “Dong Xuan market exhibition” in Berlin, Germany and acts as the judge of “London Festival Street Photography”.
Chu Viet Ha is currently living and working in Hanoi. His images have been featured on many photography sites and magazines including Invisible Photographer Asia, Streethunters, Eric Kim blog, etc. He is working at APF (Art Photo Feature) magazine as an editor.

7:00 – 8:15 am: As a prelude to our Hanoi Street photography tour, Chu Viet Ha starts with walking you around Hoan Kiem lake and capture the start of the day for many Hanoians: Doing Tai Chi or exercise. Ha wil be sharing with you about Hanoi and how to capture the right moment.
8:15-9:45 am: Walk the major streets of the Old Quarter such as Dinh Liet, Ta Hien, Ham Buom. Then pass O Quan Truong gate and venture out to Dong Xuan market. During this walk, Ha will be taking you further info his world of photography, sharing with you a lot more about the composition, the light, the right angle and how to depict Hanoi’s spirit.
9:45-10:45 am: Hanoi’s Old Quarter comprises of streets whose names begin with the “Hang” word, which means “merchandise”, then the second word is the name of the particular merchandise. The names derive from the history when merchants gather in different streets, each traded a certain type of good. These days, some of the streets still trade the same item for which the name. Ha will be walking you through some of these streets, such as Hang Dong, Hang Thiec, we more photo opts are waiting to be captured.
10:45 – 12:00 pm: Finish the morning with a photo critique session in a cafe of the Old Quarter. Herein, Ha will be going through every photo you have taken and show you his opinions, what he think could better your photo, if need be. Tour completes at 12:00 pm.
